Our Vision

Our Vision

For over two decades, the 80-kilometer stretch of coastline facing Coiba National Park has been more than just a place on a map it has been a passion. This journey began with Daniel Wolf, who saw stunning landscapes and an ecosystem of global importance that was fragile and at risk.

Driven by a deep conviction, Daniel and his family embarked on a painstaking process of acquiring nearly 4,000 hectares of this critical coastline. They invested in restoring the forests, nurturing the land back to health, and successfully reforesting over 1,000 hectares, resulting in the documented return of key wildlife species.

This long stewardship has now evolved into a new chapter. The family’s vision is to secure this legacy for generations to come not by creating an enduring legacy of conservation and prosperity.

The TCI Model: A Virtuous Circle

Our vision follows Panama’s proven TCI model Tourism, Conservation, and Investigation created in 1998 by Dr. Hana Ayala and now a national strategy. This ‘virtuous circle’ goes beyond ecotourism.

Investigation

A living lab where scientists study biodiversity, sharing discoveries with visitors.

Conservation

Protects and restores forests, mangroves, and marine habitats, with rangers ensuring healthy ecosystems.

Sustainable Tourism

Supports conservation, research, and tourism jobs in villages once reliant on fishing, hunting, logging, and cattle.

The Costa Coiba TCI Alliance

We cannot achieve this vision alone. Our strength lies in building an alliance of partners who share our commitment to the TCI model. This collaborative approach ensures our efforts are scientifically sound, nationally supported, and deeply connected to the local community. Our key partners include:

Scientific Partners:

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) and other leading academic institutions are our partners in discovery, providing scientific rigor to our investigation pillar.

Conservation Partners:

We collaborate with leading non-governmental organizations like ANCON, leveraging their deep expertise in managing private nature reserves.

Government Partners:

We work in close alignment with Panama's national vision for sustainable development, collaborating with the Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente) and the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP).

Community Partners:

We are committed to creating local employment and ensuring economic benefits are shared with the surrounding communities.
